Online Pathways

Clinical Medical Assisting Certificate of Technical Skills

The Clinical Medical Assistant Certificate of Technical Studies (CTS) is a set of approximately 7 courses (24 credits) designed to prepare the student for an entry-level position in Clinical Medical Assisting that will prepare them for the National Health Association Certified Clinical Medical Assisting Exam. Students who participate in this program will have the option to become a Registered Phlebotomy Tech through a 1-day in-person workshop.

Cybersecurity Certificate of Technical Skills

The Cybersecurity Certificate of Technical Studies (CTS) is a set of 4 courses (12 credits) that provides students with an entry-level credential that can lead to an Associate of Applied Science degree in Information Technology. This certificate program can be completed in 1 to 2 years for high school students. Our online ITS 130 Cybersecurity Essentials class is a great way to explore this pathway.

Upon completion of the courses, students receive special recognition indicating completion of an NSA-approved Cybersecurity Center of Academic Excellence program of study. Students will have the option of testing for CompTIA Network+ and Security+ Industry Recognized Credentials, which are recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense for certain cybersecurity positions.

General Studies Certificate

The General Studies Certificate of Applied Science (CAS) requires a minimum of 30 credits. This certificate fulfills not only UM's lower-division General Education Requirements but also the general education requirements outlined by the Montana University System (MUS Core).

This certificate is an excellent option for students who would like to work on their general education requirements, and 4-year program requirements, or for those who are not quite sure what they would like to do after high school. This certificate can be completed online, in person, or through a combination of both.

Job Site Ready

The Job Site Ready ("JSR") micro-credential is a job-preparedness program designed to equip learners with the work experience and essential skills to start an entry-level job in the Construction trades. Applicants will walk away with exposure to tool use and maintenance, materials handling, workplace safety, industrial practices, and project management. The program combines classroom and hands-on experience, concluding with onsite training offered several times a year and in locations all across Montana.
