Amanda Schrantz
I attended the Missoula College during the Fall semester of 2010 right after I graduated high school. I stopped going to school shortly thereafter, so I could work full time instead. I was able to start working for Missoula County in January 2013 and was content knowing they are a strong, safe career employer. I later got divorced, and found myself as a single mom. I realized that while I do not need a degree for my position with the County, advancement opportunities are less available to me... and that I may not work for Missoula County my whole career.
I took the plunge Summer of 2018 starting with two classes while continuing to work 40+ hours/week and raise my son by myself. When I made the decision to finish my Associates degree, I weighed many degree options but continued to come back to accounting. While working, I found a love for working with numbers in addition to having always loved dealing with anything involving money. The biggest factors when deciding my degree path were longevity, versatility and stability. Accounting fit the bill. While it was a slow and not so easy process, I am on track to graduate this Fall with my Associates in Accounting Technology. I am thankful I made the decision to return to the Missoula College and finish what I started so many years ago.
