I came across the Business Media Design and Social Media Management certificates because I was looking for courses that I was interested in and that would still apply to my major in Journalism. I was surprised to find just how useful these certificates would be to my education and also towards my future career.
I learned more in-depth design, business and social m
edia techniques that I had not learned through the Journalism program. I took a course that was an introduction to InDesign (Digital Publishing & Design) and other Adobe programs, and another course in customer service that was extremely useful towards my internship course and other classes. I also took a design class in Journalism and having that prior experience using the Adobe programs made the class much easier. The customer service course helped me to better understand the needs of customers and how to exceed their expectations. I am starting as a server at Highlander Brewing, so this course will be extremely beneficial for me.
I am so thankful for my professors at Missoula College for working with me to achieve these two certificates, while also working on my major and minor. It was a great experience and I learned so much that I wouldn’t have otherwise.
