Percussion Ensembles

Director: Dr. Robert LedBetter

The UM Percussion Ensemble performs an eclectic mix of repertoire including everything from contemporary percussion works to classical and jazz/rock fusion transcriptions. Recent concerts have featured the music of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Frank Zappa, Pat Metheny, Coldplay and GONG. The group can be heard on our Fall (late November) and Spring Concert (March) as well as at events like the annual Fusion Concert.  The Percussion Ensemble has toured the Northwest region and is regularly invited to perform on regional Performing Arts Series concerts. The ensembles are open to undergraduate and graduate percussion majors and minors.  Non-majors are required to audition for admission into the group as there are limited spots

Drumline

The UM Drumline has become one of the most popular groups on campus, performing at all home games as a part of the UM Grizzly Marching Band.  The group is also invited to perform for a variety of university and community events and has traveled with the football team to the Division I-AA Championships six times.  The exciting ensemble creates a variety of sounds and visual effects in their performances. The group performs in the contemporary corps-style.
