Ergonomics

Ergonomics is the science of fitting the workplace to the worker, not the worker to the workplace. It is a way to work smarter, not harder. Our goal is to provide workers with the information they need to help themselves, and work free of pain and discomfort. We offer educational resources, educational training, and worksite analysis to promote a healthy and productive working environment.

Sitting at a computer all day doing the same thing without moving around can result in short term pain or long-term injury. Consult the Computer Workstations eTool from OSHA or MUS Wellness Ergonomics to identify areas for improvement in posture, component placement, or work environment.

If you have physical symptoms related to your work, you and your supervisor should file a Workers' Compensation First Report of Injury form.  If you think you may have medical expenses or lose time away from work due to a work-related injury or disease, filing a worker's compensation claim begins the process.

If you need further assistance or would like a worksite analysis, please contact Chuck Emnett at 243-4504. Often, reconfiguring your existing workstation will be all that is needed.
