We seek to ensure that systemic racism and gender discrimination are eliminated from our campus and University community. We identify and strive to remove other factors that can make accessing higher education challenging for you and many other current or prospective students.

UM offers you a tremendous range of associate's, bachelor's and graduate degree programs. You can also enhance your education and skills by adding a minor or pursuing one or more certificates from many different disciplines and fields. However, UM recognizes that these many options may not be right for you. Perhaps you:
- Are not ready, or are concerned about committing to the two, four (or more) years of study required by these programs.
- Already have a degree and are interested in adding some specific education or skills in a particular area – to help advance your career, or simply out of personal interest and curiosity.
If that sounds like you – or think that might be you at some point in the future – UM is ready for you. UM is offering a rapidly expanding range of learning paths and options that recognize the changing needs and goals of learners not just in their early adult life but throughout their lives!

We know that in many disciplines and for many individuals, the best way to learn is by “doing” through engaging and experiencing the world around us. UM’s physical location, its highly engaged business and nonprofit communities and its ready access to government provides a world class environment for integrating experiential learning into its degree programs, certificates, micro-credentials and other learning offerings. Experiential learning opportunities can include labs, real world problem-solving projects, internships, research and more.

Today’s world is increasingly characterized by the interaction of different disciplines and fields, for example: technology and arts; politics and social media; environment and business; science and policy. UM seeks to create opportunities for students to explore the intersection of their primary field of study or to pursue studies that explicitly integrate different disciplines.

UM’s faculty, students and staff engage in wide range of activities including research, economic development and civic engagement that focus on solving complex challenges in today’s world and society. Whether it’s with respect to a local community challenge such as homelessness or hunger or with respect to a global issue such as climate change or refugees, students will have numerous opportunities to engage in study and work around these challenges. This will equip them will skills and experience to change their own world and also to make a positive impact in the world around them.
