Kristen Juras teaches Property, Business
Transactions and other business, tax and commercial
classes, such as Business Organizations, UCC Article
2 (Sales and Leases), UCC Article 3 (Commercial Paper),
and Closing the Sale. Prior to teaching, Professor
Juras practiced for more than twenty years in the areas
of business transactions, tax and estate planning.
She has served as general counsel for a publicly traded
corporation, and has also practiced in the area of
international law, including the representation of
clients in international tribunal proceedings. She
is a prior member of the American College of Tax Counsel,
served as a member of the Montana Property Tax Task
Force, and is past chair of the legislative committee
of the Business, Estates, Trust, Tax and Real Estate
Section of the Montana State Bar Association.
Professor Juras received her J.D. degree magna cum
laude in 1982 from the University of Georgia School
of Law, where she participated on the Jessup International
Moot Court Team, National Moot Court Team, and Georgia
Journal of International Law. She was inducted into
the Order of the Coif. She received her B.A. degree
in French and German from The University of Montana.
Professor Juras frequently prepares and presents materials
for tax and business attorneys at state and regional
continuing legal education seminars. She consults regularly
with the Montana State University Extension Service
in the publication of the “MontGuide” educational
series in the areas of estate and tax planning. She
teaches and prepares the outlines for the BarBri bar
exam review in several areas of Montana law, including
agency, business organizations, wills and trusts.
