College Courses and Programs
The Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS) programs are two-year college programs that require college admission. The AA and AS degrees are the equivalents of the first two years of a Bachelor's degree. The AA and AS degrees are also referred to as general education transfer degrees. The AA and AS degrees do not include a major or minor course of study, however, course selection, in consultation with an academic advisor, is guided by the student's planned baccalaureate major.
Students may also accumulate general education and elective credits to transfer to another college or university. The Bitterroot College offers courses in all six discipline areas required to satisfy the Montana University System (MUS) Transfer Core, Montana's transferable general education curriculum (up to 30 semester credits). All MUS institutions accept the MUS Transfer Core to satisfy their lower-division general education requirements.
