Rock the Rec Climbing Competition
In the spring, the Outdoor Program hosts the Rock the Rec climbing competition for all levels at the Fitness & Recreation Center climbing wall. It's open to the public, and participants register online.
This long-running annual competition is divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced categories for men and women. The competition requires participants to compete in both bouldering and roped climbing, drawing a variety of indoor, outdoor, bouldering and top rope climbers.
This year, the event takes place on Sunday, April 30th, 2023. The event is $32 for members or $40 for non-members and includes all new climbing routes, excellent prizes from local retailers as well as national climbing and outdoor companies, t-shirt for all participants, and 4 hours of spectacular climbing fun!
Three days before Rock the Rec, Outdoor Program staff closes the climbing wall and sets approximately 20-30 new roped climbing routes and 30-40 new bouldering problems for the competition.
