Cancellation and Prepayment
The application prepayment is $300.00 and will be applied towards the housing charges. If a room reservation is canceled for Fall Semester, the following cancellation policy applies.
Cancellations should be submitted online using the online Cancellation Request, which is available in myHousingPortal. For incoming new students, cancelling enrollment for the upcoming semester with Admissions will also be considered a cancellation with UM Housing and Campus Dining. Cancellations not received prior to the official semester move-in date will follow the UM Housing Refund Policy and room charges will continue to be assessed through the date UM Housing receives cancellation notice or the semester audit is completed. Reminder: Your residence hall contract is a commitment for the entire academic year, not just the Fall semester.

Housing Refunds
Looking Ahead to 2027-2028 Housing Refunds
Students may begin applying completing their 2027-2028 residence hall application in October 2026. Housing rates and programming fees for the 2027-2028 academic year will be posted by the end of May 2027 after they are approved by the Montana Board of Regents at their May 2027 meeting. The refund schedule will also be posted at that time.
