Authentic Leadership
Authentic Leadership is a leadership development program designed to help you better understand who you are as a leader and how your leadership impacts the people around you.
Great leaders take time to understand themselves—their values, strengths, communication habits, conflict style, and the kind of leader they want to be. They also take time to understand the people they lead. This creates stronger relationships, greater trust, and teams where people can work well together.
In three sessions, led by David Fuentes, Associate Dean, College of Health, and Matt Fete, Dean, College of Health, you will explore your leadership identity, learn how to communicate your values and leadership approach, build self-awareness, and better understand how you respond to conflict. You will also learn practical ways to build trust, strengthen relationships, and prevent or address conflict before it gets in the way of your team.
This program will be offered in Spring 2027.
Session I: Communicating Leadership Core Values
Thursday, January 21, 1-2:30 p.m.

Session II: Exploring Your Conflict Style and Preferences
Thursday, January 28, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Build awareness of how your preferences and perspectives shape the way you work with others. Explore your conflict style and learn ways to recognize differences, prevent conflict, and respond more effectively when conflict occurs.
Session III: Building Understanding through Self-Awareness
Thursday, February 4, 1-2:30 p.m.
Explore how self-awareness and curiosity can help you build stronger relationships with the people you lead. Learn practical questions and approaches you can use to better understand your team and create greater trust and connection.
