Created in 1998, the Roving Grizzly Award rotates annually between departments across campus, with the current recipients selecting the new team to receive the award. In addition to a presentation ceremony during Week of Excellence where the nomination letter is shared with the new recipients, the Roving Grizzly winners get to proudly display the Roving Grizzly statue for the year.

Originally developed by a campus committee named the University of Montana’s Quality of Worklife Initiative, the Roving Grizzly Award offers departments on campus the opportunity to highlight colleagues in another area of campus for being excellent co-workers, in addition to celebrating their accomplishments and work to make UM a great place to work.
