Summer Teacher Workshops
In-Person Workshop - Missoula, MT
August 5-6, 2026
Our in-person workshop will begin with a half-day session designed for teachers who are new to the program or who have not participated in a while and would like a refresher. Returning teachers will join beginning the afternoon of August 5, and the workshop will continue through August 6.
Light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Teachers will receive OPI renewal units and a stipend for participation: $400 for teachers attending the full two-day workshop and $350 for returning teachers attending the 1.5 day workshop.
Virtual Workshop
For teachers who are out of state/area or unable to commit to the full in-person workshop, we will also offer a consolidated virtual workshop. Virtual participants will receive OPI renewal units and a $200 stipend for attending.
During the workshops, teachers will explore the new SPARK curriculum, learn how to guide students through meaningful research connected to wildfire smoke/air quality and public/community health, and prepare to support student projects during the school year. SPARK will also provide both in-person and virtual culminating events at the end of the school year where students can present their research findings and share their work with others.
These workshops are open to all teachers interested in implementing the program and have historically been attended by middle and high school science, math, or health teachers.
