Current Opportunities
There are numerous ways for undergraduate students, graduate students, and community volunteers to be involved with the UMZM. These positions may be on a volunteer basis, work-study through the Financial Aid office, Independent Study (BIOB 392), or as an experiential learning Wildlife Biology Internship (WILD 398).
Graslie Curiosity Internship
Inspired by UM alum Emily Graslie and her popular online science communication series “The Brain Scoop,” the Graslie Curiosity Internship funds undergraduate students to pursue creative and interdisciplinary work in conjunction with the Philip L. Wright Zoological Museum. These internships encourage students from all perspectives to create a project—an article, event, piece, or collection of work in any form and any medium—that helps spread appreciation of natural history collections in new and engaging ways.
Romero Memorial Award
The Rebecca Romero Memorial Award supports activities at the Philip L. Wright Zoological Museum that help to expand undergraduate student experiences in natural history collection, research, and curation. This award may be used for, but is not limited to, support for students to work at the museum and financial assistance to travel to other zoological museums or relevant seminars, conferences, or meetings.
The Romero award is under development as of Spring 2022, and we plan to begin disbursing awards in 2023. Please check back in the future for further details.
