Montana Model United Nations - Connecting Our Community to the World
Each year, the Montana Model United Nations (MMUN) program:
-
Hosts over 300 Montana and Idaho high school students for a two-day conference at the University of Montana to discuss world issues and emulate the processes of the United Nations
-
Sends a team of 12 UM students to the week-long National Model UN collegiate conference in New York
-
Sponsors campus and community events on international affairs
For more than 60 years, Montana Model UN has challenged students to reflect on important international issues, understand the inner workings of diplomacy and the UN, and develop strong research, writing, public speaking, and negotiation skills. MMUN contributes to the creation of a more informed local, national, and global community.
MMUN's primary sponsors are the University of Montana's Department of Political Science, Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center, and College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
High school students who attend the fall MMUN conference can apply to Mansfield Center's Taiwan Spring Study Tour, in which students engage in cultural excursions and immersive Mandarin language classes, while experiencing a new country and culture and developing a broader, more informed perspective on East Asia.
We invite you to participate! Check out this year's conference info.
