Accreditation and Assessment
The Office of the Provost coordinates the University of Montana's institutional accreditation by the North West Commission of Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), program-level accreditation, and ongoing assessment of student learning and program health reported to the Montana University System (MUS) Board of Regents (BOR). Much of this work falls under UM's Integrated Assessment and Review Framework that connects program health monitoring, student learning assessment, and the long-term program review cycle into a single coordinated approach.
Integrated Assessment and Review Framework
-
UM's institutional accreditation, including our current accreditation cycle and the status of upcoming reports and visits.
-
The knowledge and skills all UM graduates demonstrate, and how they connect to General Education and program-level outcomes.
-
UM's annual review of program health built on MUS Program Review thresholds.
-
The biennial faculty-led process that UM's academic programs use to assess student learning across Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs).
-
The Montana University System Board of Regents' seven-year review of every academic program on campus.
-
Additional accreditation held by individual UM programs from discipline-specific accrediting bodies.
