Summer of Science
In partnership with the Jane S Heman Foundation, spectrUM brings hands-on activities to schools, libraries, and museums in the Bitterroot Valley and Mineral County.
Come visit us at any of our Summer of Science 2026 events - all are free and open to the public! Each month we will have a themed activity at all listed locations.
June: Tiny Farms
Create teeny terrariums full of edible delights. Children will build their own Montana agricultural wonderland, complete with barns and miniature livestock!
July: Tackle Mimicry
We will design fly fishing necklaces or keychains inspired by the river bugs that fish eat every day. After learning about what these creepy crawlies look like, we can create insect imitations out of craft supplies.
August: Fossil Fiesta
Not all fossils were once bones, some are the marks that prehistoric critters left behind. From dino tracks, to worm burrows, we will create our own trace fossils to take home.
