The annual UM Conference on Undergraduate Research (UMCUR) is an opportunity for undergraduates from all disciplines and at all years of study to present their projects to a multidisciplinary audience. The event also offers the campus and wider Missoula communities a space to discuss research and creative scholarship happening on UM's campus. We hope that you and your students will participate in this year’s event! Any student who has been involved in the development and implementation of a research or creative scholarship project is welcome to present or perform.
All accepted student abstract and artist's statement submissions will be published in ScholarWorks, UM’s open access, online digital repository. Faculty mentor names will be listed on student abstract and artist's statement postings in ScholarWorks and in the conference program and will be acknowledged during presentations and performances. Mentors need to approve a student's abstract or artist's statement before they can be accepted to the conference.
The conference sessions are intended to encourage discussion and engagement among presenters/performers, students, faculty, peers, and the wider UM community. Faculty can support sessions by attending and asking questions and by serving on an UMCUR awards committee. Please note that this awards committee process is labor intensive; we will need many committee members to support this process. Even if your availability is limited, your committee work will be valuable. If you would like to serve on an awards committee, please contact the Director of Undergraduate Research.
Research mentors are strongly encouraged to attend a student’s session and to assist the student with presentation/performance development and practice.
