Who we work with
We work with a wide variety of writers, readers, and communicators throughout the University of Montana community and beyond. We welcome undergraduate and graduate students, international students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other members of our community. Support is available both in person and online, whether you are studying on campus, learning or working remotely, or connecting with us from a distance.
Undergraduate students
Consistently meeting with a writing consultant (also called tutors) can make a tangible difference in writing confidence, skill level, and performance. Be sure to give us a try! We work with students from every program and department across campus. Stop by during studio hours, make your appointment here, or reach out for assistance to writingcenter@umontana.edu.
Graduate students
Our writing consultants work with graduate and professional students from every program, division, and department across campus. In addition to studio hours and appointments, we host graduate student writing groups, workshops and retreats. Learn more about our graduate student programming.
International students
Our tutors are trained to work with students whose first language is not English. Stop by during studio hours, make an appointment, or set up recurring appointments to support long-term goals. Please speak with a Writing Center tutor or email writingcenter@umontana.edu if you are interested in recurring appointments.
Online and distance students
We are delighted to serve UM students who are studying or working remotely. After reserving an online appointment through our scheduler, access your meeting by logging into the scheduler at your appointment time and clicking on your appointment box to get the Zoom link.
Faculty, staff, and alumni
Even experienced writers benefit from an outside reader. Our consultants work with faculty, staff, and alumni on grant proposals, manuscripts, job application materials, and presentations. We also work with instructors on course design and class assignments.
