Lock-Ups

Lock-ups show the relationship between the University and its colleges, departments and major administrative units while staying true to the University of Montana brand. Lock-ups must be created and approved by University Marketing. Lock-ups are not appropriate for every unit or for every communication. Often, the primary academic mark alone is the better option.

There are three types of lock-ups that may be provided:

  • The University of Montana primary academic mark accompanied with the college/unit name below:

UM Lock-up

  • The University of Montana primary academic mark with the college/unit name accompanied by the department or program name below:

UM Lock-up Stacked

  • The University of Montana primary academic mark with the college/unit name accompanied by the department or program name on the right:

NOTE: Moving forward, the University will not approve the creation of specialized logos that lack this uniformity and dilute the University’s established brand. Specialized logos fail to capitalize on the brand equity already established through the institution or college, often leading to missed opportunities to strengthen awareness of these programs, centers, institutes and offices through direct visual association with the University of Montana.
