UM Content
UM employs a variety of channels to share campus news.
UMToday
The University publishes UMToday three times a week during the academic year. It contains a daily roundup of events happening on campus, news of the day and information UM employees can use. Submissions are welcome, and all events should first be submitted to the UM Events Calendar on Griz Hub for maximum coverage. Please submit your item at https://www.umt.edu/griz-hub/. UMToday is sent to all UM employees. Students do not receive UMToday. If you would like an inclusion in UMToday that is not an event, email news@umontana.edu with "UMToday" in the subject line.
UM Events Calendar
UM Marketing and Communications does not manage campus events on the UM Events Calendar. Campus events are organized and managed by Griz Hub. Events posted to Griz Hub are included in UM e-publications such as UMToday and appear on the UM homepage. Users must request access to Griz Hub by contacting Emily Ferguson-Steger at emily.steger@mso.umt.edu. Visit Griz Hub for access and event tutorials.
InfoGriz emails
Some departments have permission to mass email UM employees and students via the InfoGriz system. University Markeing and Communications generally tries to combine mass emails into UMToday and/or UM Student Weekly in an effort to avoid inundating inboxes, but it will do mass emails for individual news items under special circumstances. UMToday is distributed via InfoGriz. Request an InfoGriz email by emailing cary.shimek@umontana.edu or news@umontana.edu or calling 406-243-5914.
Social media
University Marketing and Communications department maintains UM’s central social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. News releases and online calendar items are considered for inclusion on social media channels, as well as other submitted content such as excellent photographs or video. UM Marketing and Communications manages the content for each University-level social media channel. UM also maintains its offical YouTube channel. Several colleges, departments, offices and student clubs also manage their own social media channels.
UM Student Weekly
All UM students receive UM Student Weekly in their UM email inbox on Wednesdays throughout the academic year. The enewsletter provides a weekly roundup of events happening on campus, recent news relevant to students and other information such as deadlines that UM students can use. Submissions are welcome at cary.shimek@umontana.edu.
