HIRING FORMS

Student employees should be sent to Human Resource Services in Lommasson 252 before the first day of employment with this form, completed by their supervisor:

In HRS, the student employee will be given all of the student hire paperwork to complete and the HRS representative will do the I-9 verification. The student will then be given an "OK to Work" form signed by the HRS representative to take back to their supervisor. No student may start work until all of their paperwork is completed and submitted to HRS.

What identification documents are required for the I-9 verification

Identification documents that can be used for completing I-9 verification are listed on page 3 of the I-9 Form (above). Please note that you must have 1 document from List A OR 1 document EACH from List B and List C and that all identification must be ORIGINALS. Photocopies are not acceptable for I-9 verification.

When is an entire Hiring Packet required?

When hiring a Student Employee never before employed by the University.

When is a Hire Card required for Non-Work Study or Work-Study?

A Hire Card for Non-Work Study is only required when the Student Employee is being hired to a position they have not held before or have terminated. A new Work-Study Hire Card is required for the beginning of each academic year and summer session.

EMPLOYEE TYPES

Undergraduate & Graduate Student Employees - Graduate research assistants and teaching assistants are governed by policies established by the graduate school. However, please contact Student Payroll Services with all of your payroll related questions or concerns.

 NON-WORK STUDY

Non-Work Study student employment differs from the Federal Work-Study Program in that students do not need to qualify on the basis of need and the employing department is responsible for 100 percent of the student's wages. Visit Student Employment for more information.
