Once our institutional Canvas environment and user accounts have been set up, the following on-demand and live trainings will be made available to UM faculty and staff, with priority given to faculty using Canvas for Summer 2024 classes.

Canvas Faculty Training Schedule
Available mid-semester Spring 2024 UM Canvas Essentials On-Demand Training: This brief but foundational online self-paced course will give you an overview of UM’s Canvas platform and provide you with the tools to get started.  
Available mid-semester Spring 2024 Canvas Training Portal Learning Paths: These curated online self-paced courses have been designed by the Canvas team to help you learn more about how to use the Canvas tools and platform.  
Starting March 2024 UM Canvas Essentials Live Webinar: This 90-minute workshop will provide a brief overview of UM’s Canvas platform and present foundational concepts as outlined in the Canvas Essentials online, self-paced course.  
Starting April 2024 30-minute Live Webinars: These short live, remote trainings will focus on topics to get you started working in Canvas. Topics will include: First Look and Dashboard; Navigation and Settings; Importing Course Content; Communication in Canvas; Rich Content Editor and Page Creation; Assignments, Quizzes, and Discussions; SpeedGrader and Gradebook; and Designing and Using Rubrics.
Starting April 2024 UM Canvas Course Building Workshop: These in-person workshops will give you hands-on experience building and updating your course(s) in Canvas. Workshops will consist of 30-minutes of instruction followed by work time with Instructional Designers there to provide guidance and answer questions. April sessions will be offered first to faculty teaching in summer, and workshop size will be limited to 10-15 participants.  Participants must complete the UM Canvas Essentials On Demand or Live Training before attending the workshop.
