Honoring Dr. Gloria Conyers Hewitt

A Tribute

In 1961, Dr. Gloria Conyers Hewitt joined the faculty of the University of Montana as an Assistant Professor.  She rose through the ranks as an Associate Professor (1966), and as Full Professor (1973). From 1995 to 1999 she was Chair of the Mathematics department. Dr. Hewitt retired from the University of Montana in May 1999 and was given the title of Professor Emeritus.  In 2018, she was honored with the establishment of graduate student awards at both the University of Washington (her alma mater) and the University of Montana.  The photos are from an event that took place on March 19, 2018; you can read more about it in our Spring 2018 newsletter.
