Cost and Aid
Paying for your UM education
A college education is one of the most important investments you will make in your life. When comparing tuition and fees for other universities, it’s clear UM is an affordable option for a high-quality education.
Cost
Tuition and fees are based on whether you are a Montana resident or a non-resident. Residents of Western states may qualify for a Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Scholarship. There is also a different tuition and fees schedule for Missoula College, which offers one- and two-year programs.
Financial aid
- The primary forms of financial aid are grants, loans and work study.
- To apply, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). UM's FAFSA code is 002536.

Scholarships
All new incoming University of Montana students are automatically considered for Montana resident, non-resident, and Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) scholarships. The application for admission to UM serves as an application for these scholarships.
