Dates and deadlines — love them or hate them, they’re how you figure out when your program starts, when to apply for scholarships, when to show up to campus, and pretty much any other question you might have.
Undergraduate Application Deadlines
Fall 2026
Ready to start at UM or Missoula College in Fall 2026? Your application is open now! Submit by Aug. 17, 2026. To receive priority for financial aid and more, apply as soon as possible.
Spring 2027
If you plan to attend UM or Missoula College in Spring 2027, submit your application by Jan. 9, 2027.
Fall 2027
Planning to start at UM or Missoula College in fall 2027? Your application will open in July 2026. Submit your completed application by Aug. 16, 2027.
Spring 2028
If you plan to attend UM or Missoula College in spring 2028, submit your completed application by Jan. 8, 2028.
When to Apply
UM evaluates applications on a space-available basis until one week before the term begins.
The earlier students submit the completed application and all required documents, the higher their priority in admissions processing and scholarship consideration.
To receive priority consideration, submit your application and all required documents by March 1 if you plan to enroll for fall semester or by Nov. 15 if you plan to enroll in for spring semester.
How to Apply

Most new students will use UM's undergraduate application. This includes students who are:
- seeking their first bachelor's degree at UM
- applying to Missoula College or Bitterroot College
- transferring to UM
- beginning college after a gap in education
- enrolled at another university but planning to take one or more classes at UM
- non-degree seeking
- returning after previously attending UM
- post-baccalaureate (have already earned a bachelor's degree and are seeking another bachelor's degree)

Graduate degree admission is for candidates seeking to complete a certificate, master's or doctoral program at UM. Application process will vary based on your graduate program.

International students must consider additional dates and deadlines when applying to attend UM.

UM offers two options for high school students to earn college credit:
- the Dual Credit Program for Montana high school students to earn college credit at their high school during their normal school day.
- the Early College Program for high school and home school students who want to experience college courses on campus or online
