Readers for tests

A reader is someone who reads the test aloud to the test taker. 

A reader can:

  • Read the test directions, questions, and answer choices.
  • Read aloud clearly, at a normal pace with good pronunciation.
  • Repeat the test content at the test taker’s request.
  • Emphasize words printed in boldface, italics or capitals.
  • Spell any unfamiliar words printed at the test taker’s request.

A reader cannot:

  • Interpret, reword or explain the test.
  • Suggest possible answers.
