Welcome from Jazz Director
Welcome to the UM Jazz Program! I am excited to have you be a part of the all the wonderful experiences provided by one of the most vibrant jazz programs in the Northwest. The UM Jazz Program has 3 Big Bands along with 6-7 Small Groups including a Commerical Music Group, so there is a place for you no matter what level or experience. Give it a try!
Some of the opportunities include the UM/Buddy DeFranco Jazz Festival, the UM Jazz Artist Series, small group performances, recordings, a Summer 2024 tour to Europe or New Zealand, guest artists, masterclasses, and many more exciting concerts and experiences throughout the year.
Please sign up for Jazz Placement outside Room 201 BEFORE AUGUST 25th, 2023. If you need a hard copy of the placement materials, please download the files below or contact Johan Eriksson.
If you have any questions about auditions, the program, or the School of Music, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
I am excited about you being a part of the upcoming year.
