Faculty Activity Reporting
Faculty Activity Reporting (FAR) is an online tool in Interfolio that gives faculty one place to keep their own record of teaching, scholarship, creative work, service, and professional activity. This fall, the Office of the Provost is piloting FAR with faculty volunteers and will use their feedback to shape the tool before FAR opens to all faculty in Spring 2026.
Join the Pilot
The Office of the Provost is seeking faculty volunteers from across colleges and ranks, including non-tenure-track faculty, to try FAR from mid-October through the end of November 2026 and share what works and what doesn’t. Joining the pilot is voluntary.
Sign up by Sunday, 19 October 2026.

Keeps a faculty record in one place. Activities can be organized as they happen instead of rebuilt each time they are needed.
Generates a CV or IPR. FAR can produce a CV from a faculty member’s entries. A standard template is available, and a custom option lets faculty choose which entries appear.
Loads some information from Banner. Course enrollments, advising loads, and graduate committees are pre-loaded and don’t need to be entered.

Course enrollments, advising loads, and graduate committees come from Banner. Faculty can review them and report errors so they can be corrected at the source. Some faculty also have research, grants, service, and awards carried over from UM Impact. Faculty can review, edit, or remove anything in their record.
Other sections, such as research and creative scholarship, service, and honors, are entered by faculty. Entering information takes time, so the pilot will help identify ways to make it as easy as possible.

Several faculty processes ask for a CV, including faculty evaluation (Individual Performance Record), market adjustment requests, and sabbatical requests. FAR can generate a CV from a faculty member’s entries. Faculty choose which entries to include, and the CV is a file for the faculty member to use.
FAR does not change these processes, their deadlines, or who decides. What counts as evidence is set by unit standards and the collective bargaining agreement.
