Who can see FAR information
Access to FAR depends on role. This describes access as of October 14, 2026.
| Role | What they can do in FAR | During the pilot |
|---|---|---|
| Faculty | Manage their own personal data, update activities, generate CVs, and grant account access to others. | Same. Faculty can see only their own record. |
| College deans and dean-designated office staff | Run reports for their assigned units. Report types are profile, activity input, scholarly activities, grants, courses taught, and activities by activity classification. Reports can be run at the college, department, and individual levels. | No reporting access during the pilot |
| Interfolio system administrator in the Office of the Provost (currently the Assistant Vice Provost for Strategic Communication and Operations) | Full administrative privileges, including Reports, Administration, Communication, and Setup | Same. Access during the pilot is used only for the purposes listed under "How FAR information is used." |
The Office of the Provost determines which reports deans can run for their colleges. Dean reporting is expected to be available after the pilot.
How FAR information is used
Decisions about how FAR information may be used beyond the pilot have not been made. During the pilot, the Office of the Provost follows the practices below.
- Pilot participants' FAR records are not used in evaluation, personnel, or disciplinary decisions.
- Deans and dean-designated staff cannot run reports on pilot participants' records during the pilot.
- Pilot records are viewed only by the Interfolio system administrator in the Office of the Provost, and only to provide support and review pilot feedback.
What faculty control
- Faculty decide what to enter in the sections that are not loaded from university systems.
- Records carried over from UM Impact and Sedona can be reviewed, edited, or deleted by the faculty member.
- Generating a CV creates a file for the faculty member only. The custom CV option lets faculty choose which entries appear.
- Errors in information from Banner are corrected at the source. Faculty can report them to officeoftheprovost@umontana.edu.
Where information in FAR comes from

| Sedona (one-time transfer) | Activity data for College of Business faculty who had data in Sedona. The College of Business's Sedona contract ended, and the Office of the Provost uploaded the data on behalf of faculty. | Summer 2025 |
| Institutional Committees | Provided by Faculty Senate, Office of the Provost, and the Office of the President | Summer |
| Entered by faculty | All other sections | Ongoing |
