The morning includes programming for all guests. Beginning at 11 a.m., you can personalize your day by choosing from breakout sessions, tours and academic department drop-in sessions.

Before You Arrive

Many local hotels are within walking distance or a short bus ride. We encourage you to walk, bike or ride the bus when you can. Missoula’s Mountain Line buses and UDASH buses are free.
To park on campus, we recommend that all guests download the Passport app before you arrive on campus.
Guest parking: Park on the upper level of the Parking Structure next to the University Center. No app or code needed.If the parking structure is full: Park in any green or yellow lot on the campus parking map. Lots A, F, V and V-1 are closest to the UC. You’ll need the Passport Parking app and free parking code, which will be emailed to all guests before the event.
Accessible parking: Lot V, right next to the UC.

Check in at the Box Office on the third floor of the University Center [Link] starting at 9 a.m. We’ll send your mobile event pass to the email you used when you registered. Please have it ready on your phone or other device when you arrive on campus.

Choose one session per time slot, join a tour, or take a lunch break. Sessions are open to students and families, and you are welcome to split up to cover more ground. All sessions are less than a 15-minute walk from anywhere on campus.

Lunch
Lunch is on your own. Grab a meal at The Lodge, UM’s award-winning, all-you-care-to-eat dining center, or try options in the University Center or Starbucks in the Lommasson Center.
- Lodge lunch price: $15 for adults; $6.50 for kids 12 and under. Debit and credit cards accepted.
- Griz Preview Day discount: Get 10% off at The Lodge. Show your name badge at the entrance to receive your discount. This discount is valid for all members of your party.
- Lunch hours: The Lodge serves lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Make a Weekend of It
The fun doesn’t stop when Griz Preview Day ends. A few student favorites:
- Hike the M for big views of the Missoula valley and UM campus.
- Visit the Montana Museum of Art & Culture. Entry is free! (Donations are recommended.) They’re open until 6 p.m.
- Play games at the Gaming Den in the UC.
- Explore downtown Missoula, a short walk from campus.

Griz Preview Day is for high school students, transfer students and their families who want to explore UM. It’s a great fit whether you’re just starting your college search or getting ready to apply. All are welcome!

Yes. Register for Griz Preview Day so we can plan for you and send your mobile event pass and parking details.

No. Griz Preview Day is free. Lunch is on your own (see food and lunch options).

Yes! Parents, family members and all other guests are welcome. Please include everyone in your group when you register. Our registration form allows you to add up to five guests. If you require more than five guest spots, please contact us to let us know.

No. You’ll pick your sessions on the day of the event. Choose one per time slot, join a tour, or take a lunch break — it’s up to you! Your party doesn’t have to stay together either. Feel free to split up so you can cover everything.

That’s OK. This is your day! Many sessions are drop-in, so come and go as you need. If you arrive after 10:15 a.m., please check in at the Info Station Tent in the University Center West Atrium, on the first floor.

Getting to Campus and Parking

Park for free on the upper level of the Parking Structure next to the University Center (UC). If it’s full, you can park in the many UM parking lots that use the Passport app. Lots A, F, V and V-1 are closest to the UC. See UM's digital map for parking options located closed to Griz Preview Day.

Yes. Accessible parking is available in Lot V, right next to the UC.

Yes. Missoula’s Mountain Line buses are free and stop near campus. See Mountain Line routes and schedules. You can also use UM's free bus system, UDASH.

Use the interactive campus map on your phone or download the printable campus map (PDF). You’ll also get an event map at check-in, and staff and Grizzly Ambassadors can point you in the right direction throughout the day.

Have your mobile event pass ready on your phone when you arrive. Staff will check you in at the entrance to the University Center, and you’ll proceed to the Box Office on the third floor to gather everything you need for the day.

Yes. Campus Highlights Tours leave from the UC West Atrium, first floor (look for the tent) at 11:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. A Behind-the-Scenes Stadium Tour leaves from the UC North Entrance at 12:15 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. Early birds can join a 45-minute tour at 8:30 a.m.

Our campus highlight tour includes a stop in Knowles Hall, a traditional-style residence hall with communal bathrooms. Due to safety and security considerations, as well as the privacy of our on-campus residents, we cannot show other residence halls on campus. Visit the UM Housing website to find more information about all of our residence halls, including 360-degree tours of each hall.

Yes. Academic departments are hosting breakout and drop-in sessions from across campus. If your area isn’t listed, ask any staff member and we’ll help you connect.

Yes. Join Student Financial Services for the Paying for College 101 presentation in the University Center Theater during Breakout Session 2 (12:15-1 p.m.) or Breakout Session 3 (1:15-2 p.m.), or stop by the Campus Resources Fair from 9 to 10 a.m.

Yes! Visit the Ask an Admissions Counselor booth (University Center Room 329) anytime from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Counselors can answer questions and help you start or finish your application.

A light breakfast with pastries, fruit, coffee and tea is served during check-in. Lunch is on your own.

The Lodge, UM’s award-winning dining center, serves an all-you-care-to-eat lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. ($15 for adults, $6.50 for kids 12 and under). Griz Preview Day guests get 10% off. You’ll also find other options, including the Market in the University Center and Starbucks in the Lommasson Center.

The Lodge offers a wide variety of options, including vegetarian and allergen-friendly choices. Gluten-free and allergen-friendly options are also provided during the light breakfast. Contact UM Dining at 406-243-6325 or dining@umontana.edu with specific questions.
Accessibility

Yes. Event spaces in the University Center are accessible by elevator, and accessible parking is available in Lot V. Campus tours are walking tours. Please let a staff member know if you need a shorter route or other accommodations.

Missoula Montana Airport is a short drive from campus, with rental cars, shuttles and rideshare available. Greyhound also serves Missoula.
