2024-2025 Dining Plan Terms and Conditions

  1. All students living in an on-campus residence hall are required to purchase one of Campus Dining’s two residential dining plans.
  2. UM Campus Dining currently offers the Maroon 7 Day Plan and the Silver 5 Day Plan. Dining plans can be accessed via your UM Griz Card digital credential set up on your mobile device.
    • The Maroon 7 Day Plan allows unlimited entries in our new state of the art dining center anytime during operating hours. Five (5) guest swipes are included with the plan to be used anytime during the semester. The dining plan holder’s unlimited entries can only be used by the dining plan holder to enter the dining hall and cannot be used to host a guest. For added flexibility, the plan also comes with $300 in Bear Bucks to be used at any of our other dining locations around campus, including The Market (1st floor) and Food Court (2nd Floor) at the University Center and any of our coffee shops on campus. At the end of the semester, your unused Bear Bucks are carried forward for future use. By purchasing one of our residential dining plans, the purchaser agrees with the Bear Bucks Terms and Conditions.
    • The Silver 5-Day Plan allows unlimited entries to our new state of the art dining center anytime during operating hours Monday through Friday each week of the current semester. Five (5) guest swipes are included with the plan to be used Monday - Friday during the semester. The dining plan holder’s unlimited entries can only be used by the dining plan holder to enter the dining hall and cannot be used to host a guest. For added flexibility, the plan also comes with $100 in Bear Bucks to be used at any of our other dining locations around campus, including The Market (1st floor) and Food Court (2nd Floor) at the University Center and any of our coffee shops on campus. At the end of the semester, your unused Bear Bucks are carried forward for future use. By purchasing one of our residential dining plans, the purchaser agrees with the Bear Bucks Terms and Conditions.
  3. Utilizing dining plans: Dining Plans are activated the first day of orientation every semester and are available for use by opting to use Griz Card digital credential (available to students only) or the Griz Card ID card. Griz Cards are nontransferable.  The pictured cardholder is the only person who can use that card.  Griz Cards must be in readable condition.  If a temporary card is being used, you will be asked to provide a photo ID.
  4. Periods where dining plans are not active: Residential dining plans are active only during academic semesters. Dining plans will be activated on the first day of orientation and deactivated the last Sunday of each academic semester. Unused Bear Bucks are allowed to be carried forward for future use subject to the Bear Bucks Terms and Conditions. There are two exceptions where dining plans are not active during academic semesters:
    • Thanksgiving week (Wednesday – Saturday. The Dining Hall reopens for dinner Sunday)
    • Spring break (The dining hall reopens for dinner Sunday)

Not all Campus Dining locations are open during these days; please check our hours of operation for more information.

Additional Bear Bucks are available for purchase online or through the Campus Dining Main Office in the Lommasson Center (New DH Location), Room 114.

Residential dining plans are not available during summer break. However, Bear Bucks are accepted in our limited open locations during summer.

  • Guests: Each dining plan comes with five guest swipes for use in the dining center. After these five swipes are exhausted, you may use Bear Bucks to host a guest. You must accompany your guest.  Dining plan swipes are nontransferable.
  • Lost or stolen Griz Cards: Report missing Griz Cards immediately. Report your Griz Card lost online 24 hours a day or call 406-243-6943 during business hours, 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Once you report your Griz Card as missing, it is deactivated to prevent unauthorized use of your privileges including door access, ticket pick-up, dining plans, Bear Bucks and UMoney. Per the Griz Card Terms and Conditions, you are responsible for any activity with your Griz Card prior to reporting it lost or stolen. More information about this process is located on the Griz Card website.
