Test accommodations
Test accommodations provide disabled students with an equal opportunity to demonstrate their learning. Examples include:
- Extended test time, such as 50% (1.5x)
- Distraction-reduced testing environment
- Use of a computer with approved assistive technology
- Use of a human reader or scribe
Students approved for test accommodations may use the ODE Testing Center to take exams with faculty authorization.
ODE Testing Center
The ODE Testing Center is located in room 116 on the first floor of Aber Hall on the Mountain Campus. Students must book exams through the ODE portal in advance.

Questions

Submit a Semester Request in the ODE portal, have your accommodation letter sent to faculty, and follow up to confirm your testing accommodation request. Faculty may not be aware of your testing accommodations unless you notify them.

Submit a Semester Request in ODE portal, have your accommodation letter sent to faculty, and follow up to confirm your testing accommodation request. Faculty can then implement approved testing accommodations for online exams in platforms such as Canvas.
You do not need to take online exams at the ODE Testing Center. However, if a you require a reader, scribe, or proctor, the exam must be scheduled in advance with the ODE Testing Center. -
Book your online exam with the ODE Testing Center in the same way you schedule an in-person exam.

The ODE Testing Center requires confirmation from the faculty member that the exam date has changed.
- If the change is five (5) days or more in advance, cancel your existing exam booking and submit a new request through the ODE portal.
- If the change is less than five (5) days in advance, you or your faculty member must email the ODE Testing Center with the updated exam date.

Please arrange in advance with your faculty member how questions will be handled during the exam. Ask your faculty member about the best way to contact them if questions arise during your exam.

The faculty member may email the ODE Testing Center directly to provide any missing or additional exam instructions.

Faculty approval is required for any exam rescheduling. The ODE portal displays available testing appointments up to five (5) days in advance. If you need to reschedule sooner, email the ODE Testing Center and include your faculty member on the message.

ODE does not provide testing accommodations for non-disability-related reasons. It is up to the faculty member's discretion on whether to grant extended test time or other test accommodations to English language learners. Additionally, faculty are responsible for the administration of any exams they wish to extend or accommodate for English language learners.
