Admission

 Admission Application Instructions

  • Applying for admission to the graduate program is a two-step process:

First: Complete the Online Application. 

Fill out the online application. There are three steps involved in the application process.

  1. Fill out and submit the Graduate Program portion of the application that comes up when you click the above link. An email will be sent to you with a link to setup your account and finish your application.
  2. Click the link in your email and complete the rest of the application fields and submit.
  3. You will be directed to your application status portal. You will be able to pay your application fee and upload supplemental materials on this page. You will also receive another email with a link to this page so you can log in later and complete these steps and track your application progress.

As part of this process, applicants must do the following:

  1. Self-report all colleges and universities attended (including grade point average)
  2. Self-report TOEFL for international applicants.
  3. GRE scores can be reported as an optional, supplemental application material.
  4. 3 Letters of recommendation.
  5. Upload a statement of purpose (1-2 pages).
  6. Upload resume
  7. Pay the application fee.

Second: Additional application materials must be sent directly to the Department.

  1. Request that official transcripts be sent to the Department from all colleges and universities you have attended (excluding University of Montana)  Transcripts may also be transmitted electronically through the National Student Clearinghouse.
  2. If you choose to report GRE scores, they can be sent to the University of Montana using ETS school code 4489.

ADMISSION DEADLINES

  • Fall semester - Priority will be given to applications submitted by December 1; applications submitted after this date will be reviewed on a space available basis. 
  • Note on Spring Applications: While OBEE's primary application cycle is for the Fall semester, Spring applications may be considered on a case-by-case basis. If you are interested in applying for the spring, please speak to your potential advisor to determine if spring admission would be a good fit.
