ADMISSION
ADMISSION APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Applying for admission to the graduate programs in the School of Business is a two-step process:
First: Complete the Online Application
Fill out the online application. There are three steps involved in the application process.
- Fill out and submit the Graduate Program portion of the application that comes up when you click the above link. An email will be sent to you with a link to setup your account and finish your application.
- Click the link in your email and complete the rest of the application fields and submit.
- You will be directed to your application status portal. You will be able to pay your application fee and upload supplemental materials on this page. You will also receive another email with a link to this page so you can log in later and complete these steps and track your application progress.
As part of this process, applicants must do the following:
- Self-report GMAT scores.

A GMAT waiver will be considered for those applicants who meet one of the following criteria by the application date:
- Joint Program Degree GMAT Waiver - A graduate entrance exam has been completed for another University of Montana graduate program and the applicant is seeking joint enrollment.
- UG GPA - A 3.3 GPA in last 60 credits completed.
- Executive GMAT Waiver - The applicant must reflect one of the following:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional and/or military experience demonstrating both managerial (team leader, senior-level position, or project manager) and financial responsibilities (e.g., budgeting)
- A terminal degree (JD, MD, PhD, etc.)
- Have owned your own business with supporting documentation of ownership for at last five years
To be considered for the Executive GMAT Waiver, please submit a written request and your resume to businessgradprograms@umontana.edu. The written request must include the years of work experience and a description of relevant leadership /managerial experience in 250 words or less.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Applicants whose native language is not English must submit official TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores. NOTE: The TOEFL is waived for students whose undergraduate degree is from an English-speaking school.

- Self-report all colleges and universities attended (including grade point average)
- 3 Letters of recommendation.
- Upload a letter of intent.
- Upload resume
- Pay the application fee.
Second: Request Official Scores and Transcripts:
- Request that official GMAT scores be sent to the University of Montana using code 4489.
- Request that official transcripts be sent to the School of Business from all colleges and universities you have attended (excluding University of Montana) Transcripts may also be transmitted electronically through the National Student Clearinghouse.
ADMISSION DEADLINES
For the MACCT Program
- Fall Semester - Reviews will be completed by February 1st (assistantship date), April 1st, and July 1st. Complete application packets received after this date will be considered on a space available basis.
- Spring Semester - Reviews will be completed by October 1st and December 1st. Complete application packets received after this date will be considered on a space available basis.
- Summer Session - Reviews will be completed by February 1st and April 1st. Complete application packets received after this date will be considered on a space available basis.
For the MBA Program
- Fall Semester - Reviews will be completed by February 1st (assistantship date), April 1st, and July 1st. Complete application packets received after this date will be considered on a space available basis.
- Spring Semester - Reviews will be completed by October 1st and December 1st. Complete application packets received after this date will be considered on a space available basis.
- Summer Session - Priority will be given to complete application packets submitted by April 1st. Complete application packets received after this date will be considered on a space available basis.
For the MS Program
- Fall Semester - Reviews will be completed on February 1st (assistantship date), April 1st, and July 1st. Complete application packets received after this date will be considered on a space available basis.
- Spring Semester - Reviews will be completed on October 1st and December 1st. Complete application packets received after this date will be considered on a space available basis.
