Admission

ADMISSION APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS (MPA)

Applying for admission to the graduate program in the Department of Public Administration and Policy is a two-step process:

First: Complete the Online Application. Application materials include:

  1. Completed Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college
  2. Cummulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher
  3. Provide official transcripts
  4. 3 Letters of recommendations by professors or former employers (no friends of relatives)
  5. Upload a 500 word statement concerning reasons for seeking a MPA.
  6. Upload resume
  7. Pay the application fee

Second: Request Official Transcripts:

  1. Request that official transcripts be sent to ben.hamman@mso.umt.edu  from all colleges and universities you have attended (excluding University of Montana)  Transcripts may also be transmitted electronically through the National Student Clearinghouse.
  2. International students will still be required to show English proficiency by submitting official TOEFL, IELTS or MELAB scores: submit score to the Graduate School: ben.hamman@mso.umt.edu 

ADMISSION APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS (CERPB)

Applying for admission to the graduate program in the Department of Political Science is a two-step process:

First: Complete the Online Application. As part of this process, applicants must do the following:

  1. GRE scores are not required. International students will still be required to show English proficiency by submitting official TOEFL, IELTS or MELAB scores.
  2. Self-report all colleges and universities attended (including grade point average).
  3. Upload a 300 word statement concerning reasons for seeking a CERPB.
  4. Pay the application fee.

Second: Request Official Transcripts:

  1. Request that official transcripts be sent to ben.hamman@mso.umt.edu from all colleges and universities you have attended (excluding University of Montana)  Transcripts may also be transmitted electronically through the National Student Clearinghouse.

ADMISSION DEADLINES

Admission is open for the C.E.R.P.B. and M.P.A. programs. Applications will be considered as long as space is available in the programs, but M.P.A. applications should be submitted at least 4 weeks before the start of the semester you will enter the program (Summer, Fall, Spring).
